Bonjour et Bienvenue.
It has certainly been a busy start to the year. I cannot believe that we are nearly into June and we have been open for 1 month now.
We are very thankful for the weather this year compared to last which has enabled us to complete many projects around the grounds ready for our first guests who arrived last week.
February - This saw the clearing of the grounds. We still have lots of brambles to remove to allow the plants and trees the chance to grow. 13 acres is certainly taking some clearing. It is amazing though to see the previous areas now a smother with beautiful wild flowers. We can see meadows of wild orchids in areas that were just overgrown with brambles only last year.
March - Saw the arrival of shady rest gazebo which has already proven to be very popular, not just with guests but also the cats and neighbours who like to pop down from time to time to 'try a beer' whilst sat relaxing, soaking in the fabulous views.
April - Saw the development of the kitchen in Marcadis Gite which now consists of a dishwasher and separate fridge and freezer. Perfect for those who want to relax and take advantage of getting away from work and home. No more washing the dishes - Pure bliss!
May - My favourite time of the year. As usual it did not disappoint. May brings the beautiful flower displays. Oh, and we must not forget - it also bring guests.
This month also saw the arrival of our boat house. After 2 years of cleaning the boat every morning Darren was finally able to build a house for our rowing boat 'Summer days' next to the swimming pontoon. Perfect for those who want to take a dip before relaxing out on the water.
June - Well what do we have planned for June. Darren is currently working on the inside of shady rest. Updating the bar area and working on the gardens. The dipping pool has been relocated and is being developed into a mediterranean relaxation area with an amazing feature designed by Darren himself. This will consist of a boat, a hammock and some rocks ! Photos to follow. Next year we are planning to open the gardens for viewing (Jardins Ouverts) so Darren is very busy planting and designing ready for the big day.
Marcadis Gite - We feel very privileged to have back to back bookings this year (our 3rd year). Plus we are grateful to have returning guests this year which is fantastic.
Walnut orchard Glamping site - For those of you that are not yet aware. We have received approval to go ahead with our glamping site. This will be located in walnut orchard and consist of lotus belle tents complete with double beds, kitchens and their own gardens. Luxury, with views out over the vineyards in amongst the wildlife - Relaxation at its best. We are starting the development at the end of this season with a hope to open in May 2020. Very exciting times for us.
So, that it our 2019 update. More to follow, i'm sure.
